Trade and regulatory evidence

Trade Evidence by Markets IQ

Connects enterprise, engineering, supplier, logistics, customs, cost, and certificate data to origin and tariff evidence.

Category: Trade and regulatory evidence
Sector fit: Core: Corporates. Supporting: Banking and Private Markets.

The operational problem

Enterprise resource planning records carried purchase and cost data, engineering systems held bills of materials, customs files described entries, logistics feeds tracked movements, and supplier portals stored origin declarations. Each source used its own part, shipment, and certificate identifiers. Revisions arrived on different calendars, while certificates often covered periods rather than individual transactions. Compliance teams reviewed documents manually, rebuilding the path from an imported component through transformation, qualification, tariff exposure, and an authority response for each case.

How it was engineered

Markets IQ built reference identities for parts, suppliers, facilities, shipments, declarations, and certificates. A document gateway preserves each source artifact, extracts structured fields, and binds every record to its file and ingestion event. Identity resolution occurs before rule calculation because a confident tariff result built on the wrong component remains indefensible. Ambiguous joins enter a controlled exception queue. Structural validation checks schema, units, dates, and identifiers. Business validation applies versioned origin and tariff rules with effective dates. The design preserves source differences until a reviewer approves a mapping, accepting slower intake in exchange for defensible joins. Each run records inputs, transformations, rule version, result, and reviewer actions. Evidence packages are assembled from that ledger and the underlying artifacts.

What it enables

The institution can trace a finished good to its components, supplier declarations, transformation records, entries, and certificates. It can reproduce an origin or tariff calculation under the rule set effective for the transaction. It can isolate missing or conflicting evidence, route exceptions for resolution, quantify exposure, and assemble an authority response whose assertions point back to controlled source records.

Capabilities
Resolves component identities across bills, declarations, shipments, entries, and certificates
Evaluates origin, Section 232, and adjacent tariff regimes from governed inputs
Reconciles supplier evidence against engineering, purchasing, and customs data
Routes ambiguous mappings and evidence gaps through controlled review queues
Produces authority response packages linked to calculations and original artifacts
