The operational problem

Strategic planning drew from management presentations, operating models, market studies, regulatory materials, risk registers, business-unit plans, and board papers. Evidence was mostly narrative, assumptions appeared in several documents, and financial projections used different definitions across teams. Strategic options were discussed before their dependencies, uncertainties, and decision rights were made explicit. Updates replaced earlier reasoning instead of preserving it. Leadership needed a structured way to connect external conditions, internal capabilities, financial consequences, execution requirements, and approval records while retaining the judgment required for strategy.

How it was engineered

Markets IQ built a shared evidence model for observations, sources, assumptions, uncertainties, capabilities, strategic options, financial effects, dependencies, decisions, and reviews. A document gateway extracts candidate claims and binds each claim to its source passage and document version. The model separates observed facts, management assumptions, analytical inferences, and approved decisions because each carries a different review burden. Strategy frameworks operate as modular assessment lenses over the same evidence layer, avoiding parallel datasets for each framework. Options are evaluated through explicit criteria, scenario variables, sensitivities, and execution gates. A decision ledger records the evidence set, analysis version, authority, conditions, and later outcomes. The architecture accepts more structure during intake in exchange for comparable options and reproducible committee discussions.

What it enables

The institution can convert dispersed planning material into a controlled set of strategic options, assumptions, risks, and financial consequences. Decision makers can compare options under the same evidence base, test sensitivities, assign execution conditions, and revisit prior decisions as circumstances change. Reviewers can trace each conclusion to its source, analytical treatment, approval record, and subsequent outcome.

Responsibility

The engine structures decision evidence and records execution conditions. The institution and its appointed specialists own the strategy and the decisions taken.

Capabilities
Extracts strategic claims and links them to exact source passages
Separates observations, assumptions, inferences, decisions, and subsequent outcomes
Compares strategic options through common criteria, scenarios, and sensitivities
Connects strategic choices to financial effects, dependencies, and execution gates
Preserves committee reasoning, conditions, approvals, and later performance reviews
